‘Bhonsle’ trailer: Manoj Bajpayee is an aging lone wolf who gears up to fight one last battle, film to release on SonyLIV on June 26

The trailer of Manoj Bajpayee’s much-delayed film Bhonsle has been unveiled and the acclaimed actor is seen in a never-seen-before avatar. The actor plays a terminally-ill lone wolf Maharashtrian cop Bhonsle who has been retired against his will. He plays an upright man who always chose what’s right over what’s easy, in this case being loyal to his home state Maharashtra against the often-heard refrain that the state belongs only to Marathis and not to North Indians, especially those coming from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.

The trailer of Bhonsle is gripping and taut. It opens with Santosh Juvekar bullying his North Indian neighbours and playing spoilsport at a religious function organized by them. He says only Maharashtrian festivals will be celebrated in Mumbai ad tries to rope in Manoj in advocating his agenda. However, the aging cop is not to be swayed and puts him in his place by refusing to side with his ideology.

The trailer further shows Manoj forging an unlikely companionship with a 23-year-old North Indian girl and her little brother while the politicians wreak havoc in creating a divide amongst the people on regionalism. He is waging to fight one last battle but it might just be too late.

Bhonsle also stars Santosh Juvekar, Ipshita Chakraborty Singh, Virat Vaibhav, Abhishek Banerjee, Neetu Pande, Rajendra Sisadkar, Kailash Waghmare and Shrikant Yadav and is directed by Devashish Makhija. After delayed for almost two years, the film will now release digitally on SonyLIV on June 26. Manoj has also co-produced the film.
