'If Amazon is willing to do it, definitely there will be another season,' says Anushka Sharma on greenlighting Jaideep Ahlawat's 'Paatal Lok' season 2

Amazon Prime Video's recently released web series Paatal Lok took the OTT platform by storm with its gritty, dark and realistic content. Starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Ishwak Singh, Abhishek Banerjee and Neeraj Kabi in the lead roles, the Anushka Sharma produced show is enjoying enormous success. While fans are desperately waiting for the second season of the neo-noir web series, Anushka dropped in a major hint and assured that it is quite possible in the near future. During an interview with media, the actress went on to say that if Amazon is willing to collaborate, Paatal Lok 2 will surely happen.

"You have to wait and watch to know more about season two. I don’t want to divulge too much but let’s just say it’s quite possible. It’s too early to talk about it but yes if Amazon is willing to do it, definitely there will be a second season," Anushka told.

A couple of days ago, a leading daily reported that Sudip Sharma, the creator-writer of Paatal Lok is working on the script of the second season. According to sources, part two of the series is said to bring back Jaideep's Hathiram Chaudhary with a new case. Unlike the first, the second will be an original concept and won't be centered around a book. "Unlike the first part that had its roots in a book, creator-writer Sudip Sharma and the creative team are developing an original plot for the second installment. The narrative will again revolve around Jaideep's character Hathiram Choudhary as he investigates a new case. Right now, it is at a nascent stage of development," the source told in the previous interview.

Paatal Lok is directed by Avinash Arun and Prosit Roy. Anushka, along with her brother Karnesh Sharma has produced it under their home banner named Clean Slate Films. The 9-episode series is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The show also features Gul Panag, Vipin Sharma, Swastika Mukherjee, Rajesh Sharma, Ankur Vikal, Niharika Lyra Dutta and Jagjeet Sandhu.
