'I was tagged as the Tom Cruise equivalent of India,' says Shah Rukh Khan on 'My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman'

Shah Rukh Khan, over 27 years in Bollywood, has rightfully attained the status of the King. From romantic to thriller and even action, the actor has done it all with his Midas touch. It won't be wrong to say Shah Rukh can bring the city to a standstill with his public outing, all thanks to the relationship he has established with his fans and avid cinema watchers. Not just in India, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actor has left a permanent mark globally that many recognise him to be the Tom Cruise equivalent from the country. Well, yes. Shah Rukh, during his appearance on David Letterman's Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman, revealed that a magazine, several years ago mentioned him as Tom Cruise of India. He further added that whenever people in the US ask about him as an actor, he replies by saying he is Tom Cruise, with a 3. 5 billion fan following.

"A US publication mentioned that I am the Tom Cruise equivalent of India. So whenever I come to America and people ask what kind of actor you are, I say I’m ‘Tom Cruise’. So when they ask about the number of people following me, I say 3.5 billion," Shah Rukh told.

Workwise, Shah Rukh is currently on a break from film post Aanand L. Rai's Zero, co-starring Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, which released in December 2018. He will now be seen as the host of Ted Talks India Season 2
