The scale of Made In Heaven demands multiple directors: Zoya Akhtar on the web series

During the interview at the launch of the web series Made In Heaven, Zoya Akhtar, the creator of the series spoke about how difficult or easy it was to bring together an ensemble cast and four directors.

Zoya stated that bringing together four directors actually benefitted them as each story demands equal focus and attention, which in case of a single director would have become impossible. She also said dividing the work made more sense.

"The scale demands multiple directors as each episode’s backdrop changes. Every show has a variety of cast, costume etc. so you want a different director. It makes sense to divide the work to retain the focus, instead of one person stretching and not delivering."

When she was asked whether bringing together an ensemble cast was difficult, she said if the thought process is the same, things fall in place.

"Whoever is on the creative side, be that scriptwriter or writer, the value system is the same and what you want to put out there, what you mirror are the same and when you have that, the big things are taken care of. When you have collaborators, then things are easy."

The launch of Made In Heaven, a web series to be released on Amazon Prime Video was held in Mumbai on March 7 with Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, Alankrita Shrivastava, Ritesh Sidhwani, Arjun Mathur, Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh, Sobhita Dhulipala and Shashank Arora in attendance.
