Rajkummar's-Mouni's 'Made In China' to shed light on the freedom struggle

Rajkummar Rao and Mouni Roy are set to collaborate for the first time for Dinesh Vijan’s quirky comedy, Made in China that will release on August 15, 2019. The actors have kicked off their first schedule of the film, based on the struggle for freedom in the gallis of Ahmedabad with 200 buffaloes for company!

Rajkummar will be seen portraying the character of Raghu, a struggling Gujarati businessman and his bizarre journey to success. Mouni, last seen as Monobina Das in the film Gold, will essay the role of Rukmini, Raj’s feisty wife in the film. MIC marks the Bollywood debut of Gujarati director Mikhil Musale, whose 2016 thriller-drama Wrong Side Raju bagged the National Award for Best Feature Film in Gujarati.

In an interview to a leading daily, the producer of the film, Dinesh Vijan said, “The story of a struggling but ambitious businessman is so relatable and Raj and Mouni have distinct looks that are true to the film’s fabric. The shoot is going well even though, however, they were filming in Ahmedabad’s Old City over the weekend. The gallis are so narrow that cars can’t pass through. The actors had to be ferried to the location, Lakshmi Narayan Pol, quietly in autorickshaws because after Stree, Raj is quite the rage there."

The cast and crew of the film will reportedly travel to China after which will be followed by the final schedule in Mumbai. The team is aiming to wrap up by November-end.

Made In China is scheduled for a 2019 Independence Day release along with Brahmastra. Interestingly, the Dharma Productions film also features Mouni, in a negative role alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
