Tamil TV actress VJ Chithra dies by suicide at the age of 29

Tamil cine industry woke up to an unfortunate piece of news. Popular television actress VJ Chithra, popularly called Chithu, passed away. Chithra, who shot to fame with her role in the daily show Pandian Stores was found dead in a hotel room in Chennai’s Nazrathpet. According to reports, Chithra returned to her hotel room around 2:30 am after shooting at EVP Film City. She was staying in the hotel with her fiance Hemanth. A publication's report stated that Hemanth told in his statement to the police that Chithra went for a bath after returning from the shoot. However, when she didn't come out for long nor responded, he called the hotel staff who opened the door with a duplicate key. Reportedly, they found her hanging from the ceiling. 

"Hemanth has said that Chithra had informed him that she'll be back after bathing and had not returned for a long time. After knocking door, and not getting opened, Hemanth reportedly called a hotel employee who opened the door with a duplicate key and found Chithra hanging from the ceiling fan with her saree. A resident of Kotturpuram in Chennai, Chithra has reportedly signed to play an important role in an upcoming Tamil film. Hours before her death, she shared pictures from her photoshoot on her Instagram account.

Chithra, 29, starred in shows like Chinna Papa Periya Papa, season two of Saravanan Meenatchi, Darling Darling and Velunachi. She also hosted shows like Vijay TV’s Vasool Vettai in 2019.
