Vijay Deverakonda supports 'benevolent dictatorship', gets brutally trolled

Actor Vijay Deverakonda does not entirely believe in democracy. In an interview with Anupama Chopra and Baradwaj Rangarajan from Film Companion, the actor said that not everyone should vote in India. Vijay was asked if he was interested in politics and would join a party a few years down the line.

When asked about his entry into politics 20 years down the line to bring a change, Vijay immediately said that he doesn’t have the patience for it. “The political system itself is someway not making sense. I also don't think everyone should be allowed to vote.” He cited the example of how only trained professionals are allowed to fly the aircraft rather than the passengers who travel have the right to decide on it.

He further said, “I won’t stand in an election where people will vote for cash, alcohol and other stuff. Rather than this, I would opt for a benevolent dictatorship.”

"Why we're having money and cheap liquor swing a vote, is ridiculous. I'm not saying that rich people should vote. I don't even think rich people should vote. I think the middle class, who have the most at stake, people who are educated and won't get swung by little money...I don't even think everyone should be allowed to vote because they don't know who they're voting for and why they're voting for," he further stated.

His comment did not go down well with a few Netizens as they slammed him for his 'dictator' viewpoint and called him 'apolitical'.
