South Update: Dhanush releases new song 'Rakita Rakita Rakita' on his 37th birthday, Dulquer Salmaan announces second Telugu film; Vijayalakshmi shares her health update

A lot went on in the South film industry today. From birthdays to controversies, several South actors made headlines this morning. While Dulquer Salmaan and Dhanush celebrated their birthdays, VijayaLakshmi shared her health update and Shaam got arrested for illegal gambling. 

DULQUER SALMAAN'S SECOND TELUGU FILM

Dulquer Salmaan’s second Telugu film was announced on the occasion of his birthday on Tuesday. Production company Swapna Cinema announced the film, which appears to be a period love story that takes place during a war. Dulquer will play the role of ‘Lieutenant Ram’ in the film. “Wishing our 'Lieutenant' RAM, @dulQuer a very Happy Birthday :) #declassifiessoon,” the announcement said. 

DHANUSH'S BIRTHDAY

South superstar Dhanush turned 37 today and shared the the song Rakita Rakita Rakita from his upcoming film Jagame Thandhiram. The song was launched today and created a buzz online.

 

The actor, who has a massive fanbase, received birthday wishes from several fans and celebrities. Anirudh Ravichander, Sivakarthikeyan, Kajal Aggarwal, Santhosh Narayanan and Genelia Deshmukh took to Twitter to wish the actor.

SHAAM'S ARREST

The police have arrested 12 people, including popular actor Shaam, for alleged gambling activity at his apartment near the upscale Nungambakkam area in Chennai. Based on the tip off about gambling happening at Nungambakkam, the police conducted raids at an apartment in Chennai and found that the apartment belongs to actor Shaam. According to unconfirmed reports, the police was tipped off by a popular actor who had allegedly lost a big sum while gambling here. "Actor Shaam has been arrested along with 11 others. We are investigating the modus operandi over the use of tokens," a senior police officer told a news channel. 

VIJAYALAKSHMI'S SUICIDE ATTEMPT

Tamil actress Vijayalakshmi, on Sunday, attempted to commit suicide. The actress, who is admitted to the hospital now, went on record and alleged harassment by followers of Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman and Panangkattu Padai Katchi party's Hari Nadar.  The actress has now released a video on social media from the hospital. In the video she requests people to stop politicising her suicide attempt and slams Seeman. Vijaya Lakshmi said, "I am okay. I was saved by your love. Even when I was dying, this was politicised. I don't know how people like Seeman do this. I was very serious I wanted to die. I thank my well wishers. I am okay. Please stop saying I am a particular parties pawn. It's very bad. Try to be more human. Nothing was drama. I haven't been given food. I've been vomitting. My BP is changing, my heart rate. I'm struggling. I will not do this at anyone's behest. I was really vexed. I'm so sick of Seeman. I don't know if he man or an animal. Do not politicise this. Don't write bad things. I am not a cheap person. I'm already struggling a lot. Please don't write bad things. I love you all. I'll get back to all soon. Please take care."
