Makers of Kamal Haasan's upcoming film 'Indian 2' planning to shelve the project?

Ever since Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 was conceptualised and announced a couple of years ago, fans of the actor couldn't contain their excitement. However, it seems, the makers of this film which is a sequel to 1996 released Indian directed by Shankar are planning to shelve it. According to reports, several factors in the past few months caused the makers to drop the idea of proceeding with the rest of the production on Indian 2 post the lockdown is lifted. 

As per reports, controversies and adverse factors bogged down Indian 2 since the time it was announced. The thriller made headlines after music composer A R Rahman stepped down and Anirudh Ravichander was roped in. In addition to this, the initial financiers Dil Raju backed out and Lyca Productions were zeroed in. Apart from this, Kamal forayed into politics. Adding to the overall trouble was the major crane mishap that took place on the sets of Indian 2 earlier this year. As things settled down, a nationwide Coronavirus lockdown was announced and shoots were stalled. The makers of Indian 2 are yet to address this rumour.

Indian 2 is the sequel of 1996's Indian and is also directed by Shankar. The prequel starred Kamal was seen in dual roles with Kasthuri and Suganya as his leading ladies. The sequel also has two actresses, namely, Rakul Preet Singh and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead. As per reports, Siddharth will be the antagonist.
