Vadh 2 Movie Review: Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta Make Silence Speak

Film: Vadh 2
Cast: Sanjay Mishra, Neena Gupta, Kumud Mishra, Amitt K. Singh, Akshay Dogra, Shilpa Shukla, Yogita Bihani
Director: Jaspal Singh Sandhu
Rating: 3 Moons

Storyline
‘Vadh 2’ returns to the same world but unfolds a completely new story. Set in 1994, the film follows Manju Devi (Neena Gupta), serving a 28-year sentence for double murder, and Shambhunath Mishra (Sanjay Mishra), a jail guard who quietly cares for her and helps her survive inside the prison. The balance is disturbed when a new superintendent, Prakash Singh (Kumud Mishra), takes charge. At the same time, a troublesome inmate, Keshav (Akshay Dogra), targets a young female prisoner. After a violent clash, Keshav suddenly goes missing, triggering an investigation by Inspector Ateet Singh (Amitt K. Singh). What happened to Keshav becomes the central mystery.

Acting
Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta once again prove that they are magic together on screen. Watching them create their own world is truly beautiful. Their humor is subtle, never loud, yet strong enough to make you laugh out loud. Kumud Mishra delivers a solid performance as the strict and cruel jail superintendent. Amitt K. Singh also does a decent job, though at times it feels like he is consciously trying to perform rather than becoming the character.

Direction
Jaspal Singh Sandhu does a fairly good job in handling the mystery and dark tone of ‘Vadh 2’. Creating a murder mystery with a strong story and engaging script is no easy task, and he manages it well. However, the film gives excessive screen time to the investigating officer, which slightly shifts focus from the core mystery and emotional depth of the case.

Dialogues
The dialogues are subtle, sharp, and impactful. What truly stands out is the powerful delivery, especially by Sanjay Mishra, where the lines feel natural rather than scripted. You don’t feel like you’re listening to dialogues; they flow like real conversations.

Music
Music plays almost no role in the narrative. However, the end credit song is strong enough to keep you seated till the very end.

Overall
‘Vadh 2’ is a good watch, provided you don’t compare it with the first film. On its own, it holds up well and delivers a gripping experience.
