Storyline

‘Ohh My Dog’ is two parallel stories that celebrate the bond between humans and dogs. It begins with a tribute to Senapati, a brave police dog, before moving to Assam, where young Appu (Maahi Rai) loses his beloved dog Momo (Oscar the Dog). As Appu begins searching for his pet, he discovers the dark world of dog smuggling. The second track follows Prince (Nikhil Kumar), whose sudden disappearance leads his loyal dog Oscar (Bruno the Dog) to uncover the truth behind his missing owner. Masterji (Pankaj Tripathi) joins the search, while Rajesh Kumar plays a police officer investigating the case. The film balances emotions, crime and animal loyalty, though the two narratives feel slightly disconnected at times.

Acting 

The real heroes of ‘Ohh My Dog’ are the two four-legged stars, Momo and Oscar. Both dogs bring innocence, emotions and warmth to the story, and their expressions make several moments memorable. Their performances are so natural that they almost become the soul of the film. Pankaj Tripathi, as always, is effortless charm and sincerity, adding emotional depth to the narrative. Rajesh Kumar delivers a dependable performance as the police officer, while Maahi Rai as Appu shares a genuine bond with Momo and makes the emotional moments work.

Direction

Amit Rai’s intention is to tell a heartfelt story about the bond between humans and animals. The parallel storytelling structure creates an interesting premise, but the execution could have been smoother. The sudden transitions between the two tracks, jump cuts and occasional mismatch in the background music affect the flow of the film. A more polished edit and better connection between the narratives could have made the emotional impact much stronger.

Dialogues 

The film relies more on emotions than dialogues. While simple conversations suit the family-friendly tone, ‘Ohh My Dog’ had the potential to become a much stronger dialogue-driven film, especially with its emotional storyline. Some impactful lines could have elevated the characters and made certain moments more memorable. Nevertheless, the simplicity works in favour of the film at many places.

Music 

The music and background score support the emotional moments but do not become a standout feature. The background score adds warmth to the bond between the characters, though the overall musical experience remains average.

Overall 

If you are a dog lover, ‘Ohh My Dog’ is definitely a good watch. You can enjoy it with your kids as well. It’s a simple, emotional and a decent one-time watch.
