Storyline 

‘DC’ is a gritty romantic action drama that reimagines Devdas in Arun Matheswaran's signature violent style. The story follows Devadas (Lokesh Kanagaraj), a feared rebel who lives outside the law and believes violence is the only way to survive. His path changes when he meets Chandra (Wamiqa Gabbi), a mysterious young woman carrying wounds of her own. As their bond grows stronger, the two find themselves protecting an innocent family that has become a victim of police brutality while being hunted by a ruthless police officer and powerful enemies. Love, revenge and loyalty collide as every decision pushes them closer to danger. While the basic storyline feels familiar, the film's emotional depth, stylised action and strong character moments keep the narrative engaging from beginning to end.

Acting 

Lokesh Kanagaraj makes a confident acting debut and proves he has a strong screen presence beyond filmmaking. He brings the right balance of intensity and vulnerability to Devadas, making the character believable throughout. Wamiqa Gabbi is outstanding and effortlessly steals the show with her fierce action avatar while also handling the emotional moments with ease. The supporting cast, including Baburaj, Hareesh Peradi and Aadukalam Naren, deliver convincing performances and add weight to the narrative, making the world of DC feel authentic.

Direction 

Arun Matheswaran impresses with his stylish filmmaking. The action, visuals and emotional moments come together well, making ‘DC’ an engaging watch. However, the story had the potential to go even deeper. Characters like Parvati and a few others deserved more development, which could have made the emotional impact much stronger. Another drawback is the dubbing. Except for Wamiqa Gabbi, the dubbed voices of several characters feel inconsistent at places and occasionally break the film's immersion. Despite these flaws, Arun succeeds in delivering a gripping action drama.

Dialogues 

The dialogues are simple, effective and suit the film's gritty tone. They never feel over-the-top and work well during both the emotional and action-heavy moments. While the film doesn't rely on punchlines, the writing supports the characters and keeps the narrative engaging.

Music 

Anirudh Ravichander's music is one of the film's highlights. His background score perfectly complements Arun Matheswaran's visual style and elevates every major action sequence. The songs blend naturally into the narrative, while the BGM adds emotion, scale and intensity, making several moments even more impactful.

Overall 

‘DC’ is a stylish action entertainer that delivers strong performances, stunning visuals and an electrifying background score. If you're a fan of slick action films, especially those featuring a powerful female action lead, this one is definitely worth watching on the big screen.
