Storyline

Shazia Iqbal’s spiritual sequel ‘Dhadak 2’ to Shashank Khaitan’s 2018 troubled romance ‘Dhadak’ is a gripping struggle for love over caste discrimination. Nilesh Ahirwar (Siddhant Chaturvedi), a Dalit youth, faces it at every step. Society repeatedly reminds him that his birth is his biggest mistake. Then Vidhi (Triptii Dimri) comes into his life and tells him that he too has the right to be happy and live a normal life. But their relationship clashes with the restrictions of society and goes through the turbulent path of pain, rebellion and hope. Ronnie (Saad Bilgrami), who is Vidhi's cousin, becomes her biggest enemy and along with his father, even gives a contract to kill Nilesh.

Acting

Siddhant Chaturvedi breathes life into his character, pouring his soul into every scene. Nilesh’s pain is visible in his eyes, his body language, and every word he speaks. Triptii Dimri channels shades of her ‘Bulbbul’ era, leaving a subtle yet lasting impact. Special mention must be made of Vipin Sharma, who shines as Siddhant’s father, bringing quiet strength to the screen. Saad’s performance is also commendable and adds depth to the narrative.

Direction

Shazia Iqbal’s direction is sensitive and impactful. Though an official adaptation of the Tamil film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, she brings her own voice to the story, treating the subject with honesty and restraint. Without relying on melodrama, she delivers a grounded, emotional narrative that stays with you.

Dialogues

The dialogues touch the heart directly. For example, in one scene, Vidhi says, "I thought all this would have ended years ago", to which Nilesh replies, "Those who don't get it, they think the same ..." Another dialogue, "People say I got this seat for free, how do they know what a huge price I had to pay for this free seat?"

Music

‘Bas Ek Dhadak’ has already become an anthem of sorts. The rest of the songs also match the theme of the film and the background score further enhances the emotions.

Conclusion

‘Dhadak 2’ is an important film - one that not only tells a love story, but also exposes the truth of society.
