Storyline
‘Tanvi: The Great’ is the emotional journey of Tanvi (Shubhangi Dutt) from Delhi to Lansdowne. An autistic girl left by her mother (Pallavi Joshi) with her strict but sensitive grandfather (Anupam Kher), retired Colonel Raina, before she goes abroad. Slowly, a strong bond develops between the two. Tanvi starts dreaming of joining the Army after watching a video of her martyred father. Meanwhile, an Army officer learns that Tanvi's father had once saved his life. Will she be able to join the Army or not?
Acting
Shubhangi Dutt has portrayed Tanvi so realistically nobody would say this is her first film. She is the soul of ‘Tanvi: The Great’. Anupam Kher is good in the role of Dada, but ‘director’ Anupam overshadows the actor. Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Ian Glen, Arvind Swami and Pallavi Joshi have all done great jobs. Karan Tacker and Nassar left an impact in small roles.
Direction
The script is written by Anupam, Ankur Suman and Abhishek Dixit and directed by Anupam. It was a daring to make a new actress the center of the story amidst such a big cast. Anupam kept his presence limited to direction and let the story shine.
Music
The music is motivational and emotional. However, the songs do not leave much impact. The background score helps to bring out the emotions in some moments, but the soundtrack does not become memorable.
Dialogues
Many dialogues touch the heart. But the most resonant dialogue is Tanvi’s, “I am different, but no less.” This line perfectly sums up the character and emotion of the film. The dialogue writing is simple, but effective.
Overall
If you like stories full of inspiration, then ‘Tanvi: The Great’ is a must watch. This film touches you from within.
