The drama following Salman’s conviction and sentencing to five years’ imprisonment on April 5, ended two days later with the superstar being granted bail on Saturday in the 1998 blackbuck case on a personal bond of Rs.1 lakh. Salman had to produce personal bonds worth Rs.50,000 plus two other bonds worth Rs.25,000 each. After all legal formalities were completed, Salman was released by evening. The 52-year-old had spent two nights in the Jodhpur Central Jail. He has to secure special permission from the court if he plans to travel outside the country. Salman was spotted leaving the jail premises amidst heavy security and hurriedly entering the airport. While Salman was found guilty, his co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam, along with a local, Dushyant Singh, who were part of the hunting group, were acquitted.

Protecting his dignity and his film: John’s truth on Parmanu

John Abraham spoke out about the controversy facing his upcoming Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, an espionage thriller based on the nuclear bomb tests conducted by the Indian Army on May 11, 1998 at Pokhran in Rajasthan. Fighting allegations by KriArj Entertainment, his co-producer, he clarified, “This mud-slinging on a public platform will only hurt their case. I want them to go to court because I am fighting for my credibility… I have been honest and transparent in all my dealings with them. I have complied with all my contractual obligations… I’m operating from a position of honesty. Nobody can take that away from me. I’ve not done anything wrong. I’m protecting my dignity and my film. Parmanu will speak for itself after all this noise in the media dies down.”

Hello PM Kher!

Anupam Kher had jaws dropping with his avatar as former PM Manmohan Singh for the political drama The Accidental Prime Minister. The first look of the actor received a positive response from all quarters. “I have been internalising this character for the past few months. I look forward to translating that effort into cinematic reality,” added Kher. He also received a BAFTA nomination for his film, The Boy With The Topknot.

When it’s Madhuri, Ranbir can’t say no!

The actor, who matched steps with Madhuri in ‘Ghagra’ (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) has shot for a special appearance in her Marathi debut film, Bucket List. Apparently, as soon as Ranbir was approached for a cameo in this slice of life film, he gamely agreed and has already shot his portions.

Baaghi 2 in the top club

Tiger Shroff’s romantic actioner Baaghi 2 garnered Rs.25 crore on the first day of its release and crossed the Rs.100 crore mark in its first week itself. Baaghi 2 became the third and the fastest movie of 2018 to enter the 100-crore club.

In one of her most rewarding interviews yet, Kangana Ranaut spoke about the change that has come over her in her thirties. She declared, “I feel like that phase was great, it was good. It’s serious: No relief for Ranveer, Arjun

The Bombay High Court declined to grant interim relief to Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor in the 2015 AIB Knockout drama where the actors allegedly went overboard during a roast event. An FIR had been filed against them was on the grounds that they used obscene and abusive language during the show. The stars had claimed in their plea that the FIRs against them had an ulterior motive and were filed with “mischievous” intent and sought their quashing.

Akshay’s loo relief

Akshay Kumar acted on his wife Twinkle’s concern over open defecation on Juhu beach, and sponsored a row of bio-toilets for public use on Juhu beach. He combined forces with Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray to install the toilets, spending around Rs.10 lakh on the loos.

When Lulu wished Tutu

Addressing each other by these charming nicknames, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh virtually broke the internet. Alia wished her Gully Boy co-star a speedy recovery, after Tutu a.k.a. Ranveer suffered a labral tear in his shoulder.

Bhumi Pednekar’s look as a dacoit in Son Chiriya opposite Sushant Singh Rajput was given the thumbs up. She plays a widow, a character who is bold yet vulnerable. The film, set in rural India of the Chambal ravines in the Seventies, will see her sport simple saris and long-sleeved blouses. Make-up will be barely there but the guns won’t leave her side!
