PeepingMoon 2019- Nikhil Thampi’s semicolon serenity to Kusha Kapila’s unconventional content, fashion disruptors that brought something new to the table with their creation!

Just a few more days and we would enter a brand new year putting our best fashion foot forward, indeed! If there is something we can all agree on, it’s that a lot took place in the fashion circuit over these past twelve months.

There are seldom times when some people create genius with their work and give us something noteworthy to remember for years to come. Having said that, brings you the list of all the disruptors that took over the fashion circuit with nothing but their hard work, perseverance and dedication to achieve the place that they hold today!

Indian Fashion fraternity’s vigilante, Diet Sabya is surely a nightmare to many Indian designers who shamelessly copy other renowned designer’s work under the guise of inspiration. This social media entity has been the talk of the town for quite a while and yet managed to stay anonymous. They work on a simple funda- You make a ‘Gandi Copy’, you get called out! Being at the loggerheads with big names like Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Alia Bhatt, Masaba Gupta, Rhea Kapoor, amongst many others, this fashion police is never afraid to speak its mind. Not taking any sides but thanks to them, many plagiarists are exposed in the light of the day!

Kusha made waves in 2018 with her famous characters like Billi Maasi and Delhi Aunty and became the talk of the town, instantly. Soon after she quit the popular entertainment website and started working independently alongside her content partner, Santu Misra, becoming a household name.

Santu Misra

The year of 2019 was nothing but an upward journey of this and so much more. From making a video on her pimples to flaunting her curves, this bold and unabashed diva taught one how to be comfortable in their skin and how content is indeed the king! This year, Kapila achieved new heights in her career as she was an unmissable face in the fashion fraternity as one could spot her in frows of fashion shows, Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla parties, Karan Johar’s chat show couch and later in his movie!

You go, girl!

Successful fashion blogger and CEO of online portal Style Fiesta, Masoom had been a prominent name in the fashion arena. She started blogging when people knew little about fashion. Instead of reviewing every other brand and its products, Masoom tapped those brands which were not touched upon in the Indian market thus gaining credibility to her name. Simply put- blogging done right! Minawala definitely took fashion to another level as she took Indian fashion to a global platform and brought international designers back home. Cosmopolitan India awarded her as the Best Luxury Fashion Blogger 2019 while Lokmat Most Stylish Awards acknowledged her as the Most Stylish Fashion Influencer and we feel nobody would have deserved it more than her!

Having a humble beginning as an Instagram page to establishing up stores in the country, Needledust founded by Shirin Mann Sangha has come a long way in just a span of five years. Collaborating with well-versed B-town celebs like Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra Alia Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut, Shradhha Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Sanon, Aishwarya Rai Bachan, Katrina Kaif and more along with designers Arpita Mehta and Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, this firm surely put its ‘best foot forward’ in the fashion arena.

We have ace designer Nikhil Thampi closing this list with a bang! Nikhil returned after a hiatus of three years in the fashion circuit with his semicolon collection that revolved around an interesting theme. Just like the name, his collection signified taking a pause, rejuvenating yourself and coming back like never before! As the semicolon binds to sentence together to make it a whole, Thampi’s collection blended two elements to make one super ensemble. From ravishing dresses to pantsuits and chic jumpsuits, his collection strongly vouched for cocktail dressing. Besides his signature metalwork, this was the first time the ace designer worked with different new elements like prints, experimented with ideas that he had never done before and the result- one stunning collection!

We cannot wait to see what sea of opportunities the year 2020 will bring for these fashion superstars!
