PeepingMoon 2019 – Glamorous, impactful and brilliant! Top Magazine covers that feature best of both worlds

Hey there PeepingMoon readers, with the year as well as the decade coming to an end, this calls for a must needed fashion flashback. Looking at all the controversies, news, collaborations and shutdowns, it’s safe to say that it has been quite an eventful year in the fashion circuit. In case you don’t have any happening plans this festive season, why don’t we give you something worth munching popcorns?

2019 was undoubtedly the year of celebrity fashion, unconventional trends and quirky sartorial choices and of course- stunning magazine covers! Our B-town featured on the covers of elite magazines looking their usual fabulous self. Not just glam, we witnessed the magazine issues addressing social causes, introducing new and prominent faces, appreciating different backgrounds and giving credits where it was due!

With that being said, let’s take a look at the trending covers that made quite an impact in 2019.

GQ India and Vogue India showed us it indeed takes a village to create something as huge as Bollywood!

Vogue India honoured multiple personalities who have excelled in their respective fields with multiple covers edition and it was everything we needed to see! From sports to acting to beauty and business, the magazine’s November issue featured men and women form every professional arena and different walks of life.

GQ India and its multiple cover stars addressed the pressing environmental issues and ways to conserve our ecosystem with respect to the theme of magazine’s 11th-anniversary edition released in October.

When the B-town garnered praises, how could the super-south film industry be left behind?

The South superstars - Mahesh Babu, Nayanthara, and Dulquer Salmaan are not only the hub of good looks but are also a powerhouse of talent with a massive fandom across the nation.

Vogue India took it to its October issue to acknowledge and celebrate the Superstars of South.

The June issue of Vogue India introduced us 'Forces of Fashion' ft. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karan Johar, Diljit Dosanjh, and Natasha Poonwalla as they have indeed changed the dimension of 'personal styling' in the industry.

A fashion round-up list can never be complete without ‘Kingmaker’ Karan in it. Exhibiting his eccentric style and a swagger attitude, Karan stole the limelight on iDiva’s September issue!

This year, a number of magazines acknowledged women empowerment and took it to their issue to display the same.

Acting to entrepreneurship, there is absolutely no field where women haven't left their mark and Femina’s 60th-anniversary issue vouched for the same. The magazine’s October issue was all about grace, hard work, grit and determination and above all, being a strong woman. Embodying beauty, determination and strength, sportswoman P.V Sindhu, actress Deepika Padukone, and entrepreneur Kiran Mazumdar Shaw graced the cover of Femina’s 'super 60' issue looking classy and confident.

The November issue of Harper's Bazaar India highlighted these bold and unapologetically beautiful women who have been bending the curve in their own way. Some of them are internet sensations who made a path of their own, while some broke the gender barriers and body shaming norms and emerged as a hero. Exhibiting beauty, body positivity, acceptance, determination and strength, ladies- Kusha Kapila, Paloma Monnappa, Sandra Nandeibam, Lakshmi Rana and Sakshi Sindwani grace the magazine’s cover oozing bucket loads of confidence!

This year, magazine publications acknowledged some of the superheroes and featured them in their full glory…

The July issue of Cosmopolitan India introduced us to Dutee Chand like never before. The ace sprinter is the first openly gay sportsperson in India and she is not afraid to stand by her life choices. So shouldn’t we!

Vogue India stepped up their game and gave a glimpse of the life of rainbow-tinted drag king and queens in their September issue. It was all about the superstars - Rani Kohenur, Lush Monsoon, Zeesh, Betta Naan Stop, Ivanka Das, Maya The Drag Queen and Shakti making their own rules and celebrating the freedom to be their most fabulous selves. It was bold, big and to top it all- beautiful!

This year also witnessed men breaking the stereotypes and defying beauty and gender norms!

Embracing ‘Male Beauty’ in all its glory, Aditya Roy Kapur graced the cover of Mens XP magazine’s June issue looking handsome under heaps of makeup!

It is not quite a common feat to witness men embrace a make-up clad look, but we are stunned to see Jim Sarbh effortlessly nailing this non-gender look on GQ India’s December issue.

Nothing’s wrong with a little makeup, right?

While these men, embraced masculinity with a touch of femininity, Akshay Kumar became the FIRST actor to feature on the August issue of a female based Hindi language magazine- Grehlakshmi. Ballsy indeed! Joining him were our beautiful and talented divas- Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, and Nithya Menen

This year witnessed fresh faces on the issue covers and we were as ecstatic as these debutants!

Just before the release of their debut film, Student of the Year 2, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday turned cover stars for HELLO! India’s May issue. Although technically Ananya’s magazine debut happened with Elle’s April cover, the May issue was just before her big entry in Bollywood!

Gully boy’s 'MC Sher' a.k.a Siddhant Chaturvedi made a bohot hard magazine debut with Grazia India 's July issue and he was totally unmissable!

Although this Kartik Aaryan has been on a couple of covers before, a Filmfare magazine debut certainly counts! He made his ‘big arrival’ on the magazine with its November issue

Speaking of debutants Sara Ali Khan also made her big entry to the world of mag covers but it came with a lot of ‘issues’

Sara’s magazine debut with Filmfare’s March issue wasn’t well received with the audience and was criticized for its racism.

The shoot featured Masai tribesmen and women from Kenya which were used as mere props to add on the aesthetic of the magazine shoot.  Eh, well!

Not just this, Sara’s Hello! India’s ‘over-edited’ October issue also found its way to the backlashes and criticism.

This issue cover was supposedly baby brother Ibrahim Ali Khan’s magazine debut as well. Flaks apart, they both actually made for a stunning sibling duo but how we wished the magazine cover and inside pictures weren’t overly edited as it killed the aesthetics of their look.

Apart from addressing social issues, this year’s magazine covers exuded glamour, class, and style! This year started with a bang and ended with one.

Deepika Padukone is taking over the world of fashion, one gorgeous outfit at a time and this simply glamorous Harper's Bazaar US' digital cover for the month of October vouched for the same.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas gave us the desi girl vibes all year long and we think we are in love!

Bringing the sexy back, quite literally, Global icon and our very own Desi Girl stunned us with her sultry avatar on Instyle’s July issue and oh boy, we sure were floored with the sight of this beaut!

Priyanka turned a Sabyasachi muse on Vogue India’s September issue and the pictures of our desi girl were definitely swoon-worthy. Unleashing the riot of colours and embellishments, we witnessed PeeCee bring out her rustic and fierce side in this insanely hot magazine shoot.

Double the Treat! The dapper men of Bollywood- Vicky Kaushal and Aditya Roy Kapur graced Vogue India’s July issue and made all girls weak in their knees.

This Vogue India’s issue featured our handsome hunks with hot supermodels Pooja Mor and Sushmita Pathak and it was the hottest thing on the internet.

Sonam showed versatility for the entire year and these contrasting covers speak for themselves.

Sonam stunned us all channelling her goth glamour on the July cover of Filmfare. Mrs. Ahuja left us spellbound with her all-black avatar and sexy latex dress on the issue cover and we were hypnotized by her beauty!

From goth queen to surreal bride, Sonam always brings the best of both worlds. Musing as a cover star for Bridal Asia’s August issue, Sonam brought back the old world glamour in ethereal lehenga and mesmerizing look.

Frequently seen in his quirky and spunky attire, Ranveer showed us that he can clean up pretty darn well in this Fortune’s February issue. Sharp hair, focused eyes, and that unbeatable confidence, he looked like pure lava on the cover.

Stepping out of the box yet again, Bhumi took center stage with Vogue India's October digital cover and the grandiose of her look has us mesmerized!

From the Dark Horse to the Man of the Hour, Ayushmann has indeed come a long way in Bollywood. This King of the content and the jungle graced the July issue of Mens XP looking sexy as ever!

This year, Janhvi was surely the 'girl on the rise' and this March issue of The Peacock Magazine vouches for this exact fact.

Would you look at that?

Taapsee Pannu, Varun Dhawan, and Katrina Kaif gave us beach goals with their grungy avatars like none other!

Bold, classy and sassy. These words are apt to define actress turned entrepreneur Katrina and her style. This style maven graced the cover of GQ India’s November issue with her grungy and equally sexy avatar.

Grazia’s May issue featured Varun and his super-sexy washboard abs drenched in the sea waves and oh boy, he surely was the ‘summer crush’ of the season!

Given her choice of films and eccentric style file, Taapsee has been quite in the news and for all the right reasons. She graced the cover of Elle India’s August issue giving us vacay vibe of all sorts.

These were the top Magazine covers of 2019 and we are sure to witness better, wilder and sassier ones in 2020!
