Travis Scott 'devastated' after Astroworld Festival 'mass casualty incident', says 'I could never imagine anything like this happening'

Travis Scott's Astroworld festival was much-awaited by rap music fans. Unfortunately, the event that took place in Houston on Friday night (U.S. Central Time) killed at least eight people and injured many more. Reportedly, more than 50,000 fans had gathered Travis' performance at the festival. 

Hours after the mishap, Travis tweeted, "I'm absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival." He shot a video and uploaded it on his Instagram stories. Travis said in the video, "I’m honestly just devastated and I could never imagine anything like this happening."

The rapper mentioned in the video that he is working to assist the families of the victims. Sending prayers to the victims of the tragic incident, Travis said, "My fans really mean the world to me. I always just really want to leave them with a positive experience. Anytime I can make out what’s going on, I stop the show and help them get the help they need."

Travis further added that he and his team are working closely with the Houston Police Department and Houston Fire Department to identify the cause of the incident. He asked attendees of his show to share any information, if they have any, with the local authorities. 

According to reports, the crowd began surging forward during Travis' set on Friday. Amid that, some people fell unconscious, some apparently suffering cardiac arrest or other medical issues. Minutes later, it was declared a "mass casualty incident."
