International Emmys 2021: Nawazuddin Siddiqui for Serious Men, Vir Das for his comedy special and Sushmita Sen’s Aarya bag nominations

The nominations for International Emmy Awards 2021 were announced today, and there’s some great news for Indian audience as three big nominations have come our way at the coveted international awards. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor category for Serious Men, Vir Das has been nominated in the Comedy section for his Netflix special Vir Das: For India and Sushmita Sen’s web series Aarya has received nomination in the Best Drama Series category.

Sushmita took to social media to share her elation at her debut series bagging the nomination. She also congratulated Nawazuddin and Vir Das for their nominations and wrote, “OMGGGGGG!!!! Vir Das also expressed his excitement and said in a statement, “I am so honoured to be nominated, but I am just so happy it’s for a show about my culture, and my people and how funny we are. The special was my love letter to India and this is just unbelievable.”

Nawazuddin also took to social media to share his elation at being nominated and wrote, “Wow !!!!

The winners will be announced at an in-person ceremony in New York on November 22, 2021. There are 44 nominees across 11 categories, spanning a record number of 24 countries.
