Love and hope will always remain my North Star': Hilary Swank on Netflix not continuing with series 'Away' after one season

The Hilary Swank-starrer science fiction series, Away, will not be renewed for a second season. News of the cancellation comes six weeks after the show's first season streamed on September 4, according to Variety. The 10-episode series has Swank playing astronaut Emma Green, who leads the first crewed expedition to Mars aboard the spaceship, Atlas. The mission is called Mars Joint Initiative and comprises an international crew from different countries including India. Tension rises when some members of the crew question Green's leadership.

Hilary, on Twitter, wrote, "Love and hope will always remain my “North Star”  It was an incredible journey my compadres. ‍‍‍‍And thank YOU to all my extraordinary followers who watched and supported our beautiful show. Wish we were showing you Mars! Until the next one "

Ray Panthaki wrote, "I know this is gonna dissapoint so many of you and there’s no easy way to say it, but AWAY hasn’t been renewed for season 2. It’s deeply sad because I knew what the creators had planned was going to be EPIC and I know you guys wanted it so much. But you know what, in my ever evolving (attempted) growth from pessimist to optimist.. we got the chance to put something so beautiful and positive into the world, at what has truly been the most horrible time for everyone. Amongst the dark depressing daily news on tv we were able to bring something that was so uplifting and was actually brave enough to against the constant barrage of sex, violence and horror to bring a message of hope, love, and togetherness. Maybe that’s all AWAY was meant to be - a light amongst the dark at a time the world needed it most. I knew early on this show was touching people in a very unique way to anything else I’d ever been involved with, just by the messages I received daily. And I read them all btw. Thank you to all the beautiful creatives who trusted me and became my friends (for life) and collaborators, you’re the best and I’d work with each and every one of you again in a heartbeat"

It’s not lost on me how much time, care and money it would’ve taken to make something like this happen. And, to all you guys. My Instagram mob. I connected with a whole new group of wonderful insta friends here and we’re gonna go on many more journeys together... this is just the start. So, it’s with that, I leave you with this Ram edit that someone posted on Twitter a few wks ago. Cheers sunpodd whoever you are. What is it they say? It’s better to have loved and to have lost, than to have never loved at all... (unless you’re Ram of course, poor guy, still didn’t get the girl. But who knows.. maybe, just maybe, one day, we’ll find out if ‘Remma’ did actually become a thing on Mars ). Much love xx
