Christopher Nolan’s Tenet that released last month into theatres failed to get the cash registers ringing the way everybody expected it to. Now, Warner Bros. is delaying its next big release, Wonder Woman 1984 to Christmas. The postponement of Wonder Woman came on Friday which was scheduled to hit theatres on October 2. The decision comes on the heels of Hollywood’s boldest attempts to lure moviegoers back to theatres during the pandemic.
Tenet fared well in its international-first launch but struggled for ticket sales in the United States. About 25% of US theatres remained closed, including those in the top markets of Los Angeles and New York. Also, all theatres are operating at reduced capacity with social distancing norms.

Tenet grossed about 20 million dollars in its North American rollout, which included two weeks of showings in Canada. Many took it as a good sign and hinted that the audiences would follow releases into theatres. However, looks like the studios do not want to gamble with their big-budget releases and hence Wonder Woman 1984 has been pushed further.
Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot in the lead as she reprises her role of Diana Prince. The film also stars Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal. The film is directed by Patty Jenkins.
