Taylor Swift woke everyone up from their stupor by announcing a surprise eight album Folklore. Now she has made the music world stand still by unveiling the music video of her first song Cardigan from the album. The music album was largely created in collaboration with Aaron Dessner of Brooklyn-based alternative band The National.
Cardigan is an emotionally raw song that features themes of growing up, finding love, breaking up and reconciling once again. The video has been directed and written by Taylor herself and she revealed that she did her own styling, makeup and hair as well. The song was shot while strictly following the Covid-19 safety guidelines. In the song Taylor finds a portal through her piano and travels to other worlds which remind one of ‘Narnia’.
Cardigan’s video adheres to the album’s folkloric and intimate vibe with forests, woodland and waterfall making an appearance. Taylor revealed that she wrote the songs for the album Folklore in lockdown and in isolation collaborating with Bon Iver, William Bowery and Jack Antonoff.
