The teaser trailer for the upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic, Respect starring Jennifer Hudson in the lead role was unveiled at the BET Awards. The trailer starts off with Jennifer in a shimmering gold dress singing the song that Aretha made iconic Respect. The stage is lit up with the word behind her and the scene is sure to move you.

The trailer highlights more than just the singer’s fame but also her ambition and strives for civil rights. The Queen of Soul Aretha had actually handpicked Jennifer to play her onscreen before she died in August 2018 and from the trailer we can understand that it was a damn good choice indeed.
