Phoenix’s acting and Todd Phillips’ direction has been much appreciated. The videos also show the actor-director hugging each other and acknowledging the applause coming their way. Besides, Phoenix, the film also stars Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Bill Camp, Glenn Fleshler, Shea Whigham, Brett Cullen, Douglas Hodge and Josh Pais.

Amongst all the comic book fictional antagonists, DC comics’ Joker holds a special place. The madcap character is the arch-nemesis of the most popular superhero Batman and has a cult following of his own. The villainous character is so complex that it is even a psychiatrist’s nightmare and that makes him highly interesting. Joker as a character has often been portrayed onscreen in several Batman films, most notably by late Heath Ledger but this time around he has got his own spinoff film which deals with his background story. Phoenix’s portrayal in the R-rated film should get him his fourth Oscar nomination and the first win. The film releases on October 4.
