Avengers: Endgame beats Avatar and becomes highest-grossing film of all time; Russo Brothers, Chris Hemsworth react

Ever since Avangers: Endgame released, it has raised the million dollar question whether it will surpass the $2.78 billion benchmark set by James Cameron's Avatar a decade ago. And now the day, which all Marvel fans have been waiting for, has finally arrived. The film not only recorded the biggest opening day collection with massive opening weekend collection, Avengers: Endgame has now beaten Avatar to become the highest grossing film of all time. According to a Hollywood portal, Avengers: Endgame has surpassed Avatar‘s billion worldwide box collection, not adjusted for inflation. 

Marvel chief Kevin Feige and his team reportedly announced the milestone at Comic-Con late Saturday afternoon in San Diego. “A huge congratulations to the Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios teams, and thank you to the fans around the world who lifted Avengers: Endgame to these historic heights," Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn said in a statement. Soon after, Joe and Anthony Russo aka the Russo Brothers took to social media to share their reactions.

Chris Hemsworth too shared on his Instagram page, "Thank you to all the fans around the world that lifted Avengers Endgame to historic heights making it the top grossing film of all time!!"

Directed by Russo brothers, the film has Hollywood biggies like Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Chris suiting up as the world's favourite superheroes. Avengers: Endgame, the 22nd film of MCU, marks the end of an era that revolved around Iron Man, the Hulk and Captain America, among others.
