The past is not what it seems in the new ‘Frozen 2’ trailer as Elsa and Anna go on a quest to find the truth

In the latest trailer of Frozen 2, Elsa and Anna are off on a quest to solve the mystery of the former’s powers. The first teaser was dropped in February and now the full trailer has been released to cool us off as summer heats up. The teaser hinted at a greater plot of a quest and finding revelations and the poster released yesterday showed Elsa and Anna as fearless princesses but the trailer goes beyond.

The trailer shows us a fearless Elsa using her icy powers to control sea waves and autumn swathed forest that springs into the mysterious yet beautiful fire. In this new trailer, we get to meet the old troll who cured a young Anna in the first film when she was hit by Elsa’s powers. He eggs Elsa to find the truth about her powers and tells her, “The past is not what it seems. You must find the truth. Go North, across the enchanted lands and into the unknown but be careful. You’ve always feared your powers are too much for this world. Now we must hope that they are enough.”

However, the new trailer evokes more questions than it answers them, like- What do these mysterious symbols on the snowflakes mean? What lies beyond the land of Arendelle? Are there others out there with Elsa’s powers or is she the only one? Why was she born with these powers? Will her powers be enough to save the day? An icy horse creature called Nokk also makes its appearance and so does a scene that seems eerily familiar from Brave.

Frozen 2 features Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad in lead roles. Santino Fontana, Rachel Wood and Sterling K Brown also star in the film. The film is directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck and award-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are back on the film as well. Frozen 2 will release on November 22.
