Just days before Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding to Prince Harry startling news has come that her father Thomas Markle will not attend the wedding on Saturday, May 19, 2018. As reported by a tabloid, Markle decided not to walk his daughter down the aisle on Saturday as it came to light that he had worked with a picture agency to stage some pictures of him preparing himself for the wedding. Markle was reported saying that the pictures were hammy and he did not want to embarrass the royal family or his daughter on her special day.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said on Monday, “This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation.”

Markle has been under the media glare since the wedding was announced and the fact that he was supposed to give her away was also made him an object of affection for the paparazzi. The staged photos showed Markle doing different things like checking out a website featuring his soon-to-be-royal daughter and reading a book about Britain went viral on social media.

However, a British daily published a security camera footage that showed marle arriving at the internet café with a photographer. Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle  admitted to have arranged the photo-shoots for her father but maintained that their intentions were good. She said on the ITV program loose Women, “I said the world has no idea that you're getting in shape and doing healthy things. They don't photograph you buying vegetables and pH water, they photograph you in as (many) unflattering ways as they can. I said, 'Really you need to show the world you are getting in shape and doing great, healthy things.' So I suggested it."

Thomas Markle on Monday said that he suffered a heart attack six days ago, but checked himself out of the hospital in order to attend the wedding, but decided to forgo it after the staged photo shoots issue cropped up. Meghan is a biracial American actress. Her father and mother, Doria Ragland had met at a Hollywood studio in the late 1970s. However, unlike her father, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland will attend the Royal Wedding and will stay with her daughter at a hotel the night before the royal wedding. Meghan’s half-sibling Samantha and Thomas Jr. are not expected to attend the wedding.
