Talking about 'Snail' which was launched in the year 2006, Sabya said that he was at the peak of his career with National awards, interviews, and appearances, but still unhappy from within. Enjoying the limelight at international fashion weeks and magazine covers did not give him inner peace and he felt like slowing down his pace. So, Sabya took a long sabbatical at the initial years of his career to introspect on his craft and move forward with conviction. Though it was suicidal for his career, his instincts told him it was the right thing to do. He slowed down the production, paid attention to details, and chose to display his laborious craft in a quieter way. And just like that his ’06 Spring summer collection came into being which later turned out to be his ticket to New York Fashion Week!

His second collection 'Chandbibi' from 2007 was right after debut NYFW show where he displayed the essence of India. However, he did not feel centered as he thought he displayed his art very subtly and ‘less Indian’, contrary to his usual collections. Learning lesson the hard way, Sabya realized that if he wanted to be a global voice, he should use a langue of his own- grand, celebratory, and unapologetically Indian! And with that, his collection Chandbibi came into being. ‘Lavish, but with a sense of frugality. Regal but wicked’, his new bridal collection was an overdose of craft, layering, and grandeur…exactly the way he envisioned it. When Anushka Sharma glided in his curation on the red carpet of NCPA halls, fan letters started pouring in for the designer and he finally felt the sense of belonging!
