Exclusive: Emraan Hashmi's 'The Bard of Blood' begins next week in Ladakh

Emraan Hashmi, despite having no release this year, is shooting for one film after another and very smartly managing time with his family too. He has completed Jeethu Joseph’sThe Body and recently also wrapped up Soumik Sen’s Cheat India which is scheduled to release on January 25, 2019. The next for Emraan is Netflix’s The Bard of Blood series which goes on the floors next week.

The web-series based on the bestselling 2015 book of the same name by Bilal Siddiqui will majorly be shot in Ladakh. Emraan will head to the “land of high passes” on Friday for the same. The production team is apparently already in the valley for the preparation of this first major schedule where highly-stylized and intricate action sequences will be shot in a month-long schedule.

Filmmakers Kanu Behl and Ribhu Dasgupta have come on board to jointly direct this eight-episode, high-octane political espionage thriller series. While Kanu garnered recognition in Indian cinema as a director with the critically-acclaimed independent feature film Titli, Ribhu is known for directing the psychological thriller TV series Yudh and last directed the Amitabh Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vidya Balan starrer feature film, TE3N.

Produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, this multilingual web-series marks Emraan's foray into the digital space and sees him taking on the role of Kabir Anand, an expelled spy who’s called back into action from his new life as a Shakespeare professor to save his country and former love. Set against the backdrop of the Indian subcontinent, the series promises to present Emraan with deadly combat skills and an intellectual background that propels him to avenge the past and face deadly enemies in a race against time. The series is expected to be streamed worldwide in mid-2019.
