PeepingMoon Exclusive: Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh’s Baby John postponed, and here’s why?

Baby John is running late. has exclusively learned that Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh’s much-awaited action entertainer has formally been postponed from its May 31st release. The new date is yet to be finalized, but the makers are now looking to debut it in theatres sometime in June or July 2024.

The delay in this dramatic action thriller is attributed to incomplete production and post-production work. The movie has so far been shot for more than 75 days since August 2023, but still has 10-12 days of shooting remaining, which is expected to be wrapped up by April-end. This will be followed by an extensive post-production process, making it nearly impossible to meet the scheduled release date.

The makers are currently evaluating various dates in June and July but will announce the exact release date only upon completion of production. With Baby John out of the calendar, the date is now being taken over by a big pan-India movie. Industry is abuzz with inside reports that Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan’s highly anticipated sci-fi epic, Kalki 2898 AD, is now targeting the Baby John date, although they are yet to confirm the development.

Baby John is an official remake of Jawan director Atlee’s 2016 Tamil action thriller, Theri, starring Thalapathy Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Amy Jackson. The upgraded Hindi remake sees Varun stepping into the shoes of Vijay to play the role of a former police officer trying to protect his daughter from his past enemies, while Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi play the leading ladies, taking on the roles of Samantha and Amy, respectively. Jackie Shroff, Rajpal Yadav, and Sheeba Chaddha also play key roles in this action-packed entertainer, produced by Murad Khetani (Cine1 Studios), Priya Atlee (A For Apple Productions), and Jyoti Deshpande (Jio Studios), and presented by Atlee.
