PeepingMoon Exclusive: Contrary to speculations, Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 audio and satellite rights are not sold yet

Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule is generating a lot of buzz among fans and the film industry. A glimpse video released on Allu’s birthday last month has only doubled the excitement surrounding this Sukumar-directed action drama. The first part, which came out in 2021, not only proved to be a pan-India box office success but also dominated the music charts with its hit songs like Srivalli, Saami Saami, and Oo Antava, which had audiences grooving to the beats. As the second part of the film is in production, fans are eagerly anticipating another round of chart-topping music, leading to various speculations about the film's audio rights deal.

An entertainment portal reported early this month that T-Series had acquired the audio rights to Pushpa 2 for a staggering amount of Rs. 65 crore. However, this news was quickly dismissed by some media outlets as a fabrication to generate "false hype". So who is lying here, and what’s the truth about the reported deals? A source close to the film reveals, "We are not sure where these numbers are coming from. Pushpa 2 is one of the biggest films, with tremendous pre-release buzz nationwide. Various big companies from all over the country are approaching the makers for music, satellite, and other rights, but they have not sold any rights to anyone as yet. As far as the audio rights are concerned, the makers are in talks with leading music companies, but the deal is not yet finalized. The satellite rights will be discussed only after the film’s shooting is completed. All the reports coming out about the film's various rights are just mere speculations."

Pushpa 2 is currently being shot in Odisha’s Malkangiri and is then expected to be filmed in foreign locations such as Bangkok and Europe. The film will be the continuation of the first part, showing Allu Arjun’s kickass character Pushpa Raj as he rises in the world of red sandalwood smuggling and clashes with the egoistic police officer, Bhanwar Singh Shekawat, played by Fahadh Faasil. The movie is expected to finish its production by November this year, with a theatrical release scheduled for summer 2024. The film is carrying huge expectations, and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure it lives up to its reputation. Apart from Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Dhanunjay, Rao Ramesh, Suneel, Anasuya Bharadwaj, and Ajay Ghosh in pivotal roles. Its music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, while cinematography and editing were performed by Miroslaw Kuba Brozek and Karthika Srinivas, respectively.
