PeepingMoon Exclusive: I looked up to see whether my father was smiling upon me- Raveena Tandon recalls the moment before receiving Padma Shri at the ceremony

Raveena Tandon was honoured with a Padma Shri from the government of India for her contribution towards Indian cinema over 3 decades. She received the fourth-highest civilian award from India's President Draupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on April 5. Her husband Anil Thadani, daughter Rasha and son Ranbir were present to cheer for her. In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon.com, the actress spoke about receiving the Padma Shri and the moment she shared with the President.

When asked whether she recalled the moment she signed her first film (Patthar Ke Phool, 1991) while receiving the award, Raveena said, "When I signed my first film, my parents were my support system. Unfortunately, my mother couldn't travel with me to Delhi to witness the special moment but I am sure, her blessings were and will always be with me. However, my support system-my children Rasha and Ranbir- were there cheering for me. Life’s a complete circle."

Recalling the moment before she was called on stage, Raveena shared, "Just before they called out my name, I looked up to see if my dad (late Ravi Tandon) was smiling upon me and I am sure he was. When they took my name, it was nothing but a feeling of pride. At that moment, I was focusing on not being nervous and walking straight (laughs)."

Raveena further opened up about her quick yet interesting chat with President Murmu while receiving the award. She told, "It was very sweet because the moment I reached the podium, the President said, "It is such an honour for me to represent Padma Shri to you. I have seen your movies." I was humbled by her words and said, "I am honoured to be receiving it from you." We were standing there complimenting each other for some time. It was so humble and sweet of her to say that."

Workwise, Raveena was last seen in K.G.F: Chapter 2. Her upcoming projects include Ghudchadi, Patna Shukla, a web series with Disney+ Hotstar and the second season of Aranyak.
