PeepingMoon Exclusive: I'm open to finding love on Lock Upp after coming out of troubled marriage with Karan Mehra- Nisha Rawal

Ekta Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut's reality show Lock Upp is the current talk of the town. 16 celebrity contestants will be locked up in jail and they have to survive odds to emerge stronger and win the show. Nisha Rawal became the first confirmed contestant who is all set to get 'locked up'.

Ahead of Lock Upp's premiere on February 27 on ALT Balaji and MX Player, Nisha spoke to PeepingMoon. In the exclusive interview, the actress opened up about turning down Bigg Boss offers, the reason behind saying yes to Lock Upp, staying away from her 4 years old son Kavish Mehra and whether she is open to finding love on the show after a troubled marriage with Karan Mehra.

Excerpts from the interview:

What made you say yes to Lock Upp?

When I was offered Lock Upp, I had interesting virtual interviews with the makers who expressed their desire to rope in a woman who is strong-headed, speaks her mind, cannot keep quiet and someone with an IQ. This made me feel good. I felt the platform and the exposure that was given to me was perfect. Lock Upp is a show that can redefine OTT.

Were you offered Bigg Boss before Lock Upp?

Yes, I have been offered Bigg Boss at least 4 times. I am an actor and not a reality show kind of a person. Apart from the dance reality show that I did, I have tried to avoid it as much as possible. I was approached for the 15th season too but since I was already doing a daily soap, leaving it in the middle would affect its health. We have seen Bigg Boss for 15 years, Lock Upp is a fresh concept.

What’s your take on Bigg Boss vs Lock Upp comparisons?

The only similarity between Bigg Boss and Lock Upp is the captive nature. When you talk about Bigg Boss, you are locked in a proper house with amenities. In Lock Upp, it's a jail and a jailor. On Bigg Boss, you get a chance to dress up, do your hair which is similar to doing your own ramp walk. The audience will very much be a part of Lock Upp, which is again a different aspect. It is a show made in India, so what’s better than that?

Kangana Ranaut is known for being vocal, are you expecting a clash with her?

Kangana Ranaut is known to speak her mind and so do I. Not necessarily a clash, but it can be the other way round too. Maybe it can be us vs the rest. If our opinions don't match on any topic, I will stick to what my beliefs are. It will be interesting to see what happens.

You will be away from your son Kavish for a few months. Does that thought worry you?

Yes, it does worry me because he is just 4 and a half years old. When I say it worries me, I mean I will miss hugging him and seeing him. Otherwise, I have made every arrangement for him. Right from his security to his hygiene and food, he has experts with him. I have left no aspect uncovered. Also, being in this profession, I have had tough schedules and Kavish understands it as much as he can at this age.

After a troubled marriage with Karan Mehra, are you open to finding love, again, on Lock Upp?

Yes, absolutely. I am open to finding love after a troubled marriage and why not? It is all about the right time. Since I was busy sorting my own life, I never got the chance to think about this. If it happens organically, then why not?
