PeepingMoon Exclusive: Dulquer Salmaan to make his OTT debut with Raj & DK's Netflix series co-starring Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gourav

The OTT platforms are getting star-driven! From Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor, and Aditya Roy Kapur to Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, and Juhi Chawla, all are venturing into OTT. And now, joining the web bandwagon is the Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan, who was recently seen in the critically-acclaimed crime drama, Kurup. has exclusively learned that Dulquer is making his OTT debut with The Family Man creators Raj & DK’s next Netflix series.

"Dulquer Salmaan has been offered multiple web films and shows in the past two years. But he rejected them all as he wasn’t satisfied with the subjects that were coming his way. He was looking for a certain kind of project to mark his OTT debut and Raj & DK’s offer had it all. It’s a big-scale, intriguing thriller peppered with the usual Raj & DK comic undertones and revolves around three lead characters. Salmaan plays one of the lead roles in this comedy-thriller series, alongside Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger fame)," an industry source told us.

Salmaan has apparently come on board as the replacement for Diljit Dosanjh, who was earlier supposed to play a lead role but backed out of the project due to date issues. The Netflix series marks the OK Kanmani actor’s fourth Hindi project after Karwaan (2018), The Zoya Factor (2019) and the upcoming R Balki psychological thriller Chup, which also stars Sunny Deol, Pooja Bhatt, and Shreya Dhanwanthary in the lead roles. The show has already gone on floors in Dehradun and will be wrapped up by March-end in a start-to-finish schedule. Salmaan is expected to join the sets once he recovers from COVID.

Meanwhile, Dulquer Salman is gearing up for his next release in February. His Tamil romantic comedy, Hey Sinamika, co-starring Kajal Aggarwal and Aditi Rao Hydari, is scheduled for release on February 25th, which will be followed by his Malayalam crime thriller Salute by mid-this year. Salmaan is also doing Hanu Raghavapudi’s yet-untitled trilingual love saga that will release in theatres next year. On the other hand, Raj & DK have completed the filming of their Shahid Kapoor-Vijay Sethupathi starrer Amazon Prime series, and will head to their highly anticipated global thriller series Citadel after finishing the Dulquer Salmaan-Rajkummar Rao-Adarsh Gourav show.
