PeepingMoon Exclusive: I may have to work 10-times harder than a man in a room but I will - Kanika Dhillon

Screenwriter Kanika Dhillon went all out as she opened up about the challenges of being a female writer in the film industry in PeepingMoon's Let's Talk final episode. The writer turned producer correctly pointed out how women have to work 10-time harder than a man in a room and why success comes with a lot of sacrifices and hard work.

Talking about stopping men from making sly jokes, Kanika said, "Let's stop making excuses for me around us. Let's stop making excuses for our boyfriends and husbands. Because we need to also draw the line. Maybe they don't know better. When they are making these stupid and sly jokes, we need to tell them it's not okay. We need to step up a little bit and tell them it's not okay. The more I am going out there and working, this whole agenda of putting your point across and saying things out loud is getting fueled a lot more is because one just sees the double standards a lot more. Today, when I have the opportunity to tell my stories, it has come with a lot of hard work and a lot of sacrifices and I am not going to be apologetic about it."

She further added, "Yes, I am ambitious and I may have to work 10-times harder than a man in a room but I will and that's about. I am also very cognizant about the fact that every woman who's there in my industry needs to be lauded. I want more women to be in the position to hire and fire. I want more representation. Sisterhood is very important, you need to stand up for other women. When your friends are slut-shaming someone, tell them to shut up."
