PeepingMoon Exclusive: Randeep Hooda to explore the world of drug mafia with his next Netflix series!

After making his smashing digital debut with Chris Hemsworth's Netflix crime thriller Extraction, Randeep Hooda is all set to explore the web series space with Jio Studios' cop thriller drama, Inspector Avinash. The show directed by Sunny Deol's Bhaiyyaji Superhit fame Neerraj Pathak is based on real-life experiences of police officer Avinash Mishra and is currently in post-production. Now, Peepingmoon.com has learned that Randeep has signed one more web series even before Inspector Avinash streams online.

Industry sources have informed us that Randeep Hooda is next doing a Netflix series based in Punjab. The yet-untitled thriller drama is said to be set in the world of the drug mafia and deals with the political-criminal nexus that's increasingly reaching the highest levels in Punjab. Randeep is said to be playing a grey character in this show that will be directed by Balwinder Singh Januja. The screenplay writer who's penned films like Saand Ki Aankh and Mubarakan, Januja is already making his Hindi directorial debut with Randeep's upcoming romantic-comedy, Unfair & Lovely, and this series will mark his second back-to-back collaboration with the Radhe actor. The show will apparently have an ensemble supporting cast on board, however, their details have been kept under the wraps at this moment.

We've further learned that Randeep will start shooting for this series around 20th September in Amritsar. As opposed to the earlier plan of shooting it right after the completion of Unfair & Lovely, the show is finally set to be filmed next month in a two-month start-to-finish schedule across multiple locations in Punjab. Balwinder Singh Januja is said to have written this script himself and is also producing it under his banner.

Meanwhile, Randeep's Unfair & Lovely is ready and awaiting the reopening of theatres in full capacity before hitting the screens across India. The Sony Pictures India production co-starring Ileana D'Cruz chronicles the story of a dusky woman who faces social prejudice and how she deals with it. Set in Haryana, the film explores India's obsession with fair skin in a very sensitive manner. His debut web series Inspector Avinash, on the other hand, is expected to release in the last quarter of this year. Jio Studios is said to be currently in talks with various OTT services to sell its streaming rights.
