Exclusive: Akshay Kumar-Rohit Shetty begin Sooryavanshi with photo-shoot at YRF Studios this morning

While you were sleeping this morning, Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty began work on their first collaboration Sooryavanshi. It is the most anticipated film of 2019 already and has Akshay starring as the decorated Anti-Terrorist Squad chief Veer Sooryavanshi in Rohit’s next cop universe film of Bollywood superstars that includes Ajay Singham Devgn and Ranveer Simmba Singh.

A photo-shoot for Sooryavanshi was successfully done at the crack of dawn at YRF Studios this morning. Akshay is used to waking up before the milk to kick-start his day with an energetic workout. But Rohit was in Goa with his creative unit soaking in the sun and working on the script of Sooryavanshi. That’s the renowned filmmaker’s idea of taking a break! But he jetted up and down regardless.

PeepingMoon.com sources say that Rohit flew in early to direct the photo-shoot and joined Akshay at YRF Studios just after dawn. You will be forgiven if you thought he was enjoying a holiday in Goa after the thumping box-office success of his December release Simmba. Rohit wastes no time sitting on his laurels; he gets onto his next film immediately. His meter is always running, Bollywood trade sources say.

It is that was with Akshay, too. The actor’s time management is so amazing it enables him to do multiple films a year. In 2019, Akshay has five big releases including Kesari, Mission Mangal, Good News, Housefull 4 and Sooryavanshi. In a media interview today, Akshay dismissed the notion that there was a science to how he functions. “It’s very simple,” he said, “I constantly want to do something fresh.”

Sources from the Sooryavanshi set say that Akshay was looking suave in his crisp, knife-edge creased khaki uniform of ATS supercop Sooryavanshi. As part of the photo-shoot Rohit had also organised seven police jeeps. The pictures that were taken will go into the posters and promos of Sooryavanshi later this year. Once the shoot was complete, Rohit hopped onto a plane and flew back to his script and creative team in Goa. And Akshay began his morning workout! Total time spent to get Sooryavanshi rolling – not even two hours!
