There’s been a new development in the speculation over who will be the female lead in Luv Ranjan’s ambitious film for which he already has Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor on board. Earlier today, Bollywood websites buzzed excitedly with the rumour that Ileana D’Cruz was the top contender for the role.
As per our sources, the film will be solely produced by Ankur Garg in collaboration with Luv Ranjan.
Moreover, Ileana had a comfort level with both Ajay and Ranbir. Her last two releases, Baadshaho in 2017 and Raid this year, were with Ajay and she did Barfi with Ranbir in 2012. She appeared to be everybody’s choice. Ileana was said to have been given a brief, but not signed as yet, and was due to sit for a narration with Ranjan to take the role ahead.

Our sleuthing source reveals that the female lead for Ranjan’s Ajay-Ranbir starrer has already been decided. And you can stop holding your breath – the heroine is reportedly Deepika Padukone! There’s more. The actress, who has kept Bollywood guessing about which film she intends to do after the classic Padmaavat earlier this year, is believed to have said yes to Ranjan and signed on the film! It will go on the floors next year.
This will be the fourth time Deepika and Ranbir are acting together. The first was in 2008 for Bachna Ae Haseeno before they became a couple, then Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in 2013 after they split and finally Tamasha in 2015. Earlier, the role was reportedly said to be ping-ponging between Alia Bhatt and Nushrat Bharucha before Ileana came into the picture. Now, we bring you Deepika. This will be the actress’ first film after her marriage to Ranveer Singh which is believed to be happening in November.
