EXCLUSIVE: Did Censor Board officially suggest replacements of objected words to Veere Di Wedding makers?

Sonam Kapoor starrer Veere Di Wedding got mixed reviews from the critics. The movie which has opened well at the Box Office is about four friends and their shared experiences in life. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania play the other pivotal characters.

Ever since the trailer of the film released, its language was criticised by many. The use of cuss words by the characters was among a few things objected. And to nobody's surprise, VDW got an A certificate from the Censor Board Of Film Certification (CBFC).

Peeping Moon has now learnt that CBFC might have actually suggested the replacements of the objected words in the film. We got our hands on the copy of the 'modifications recommended by CBFC' and it clearly mentions the words that the board had suggested to replace the objected words with, in the film. Following which, 'Bh*****d' became 'Pencho', C**t became 'Choosa' and 'As****e' became 'jackass.' Here's the copy:

It should be noted that as per CBFC guidelines, it can only suggest the changes and not ask the makers to change a particular word with the word they have suggested. Talking about the same, former CBFC chairperson, Pahlaj Nihalani exclusively told us on call, "No, CBFC cannot suggest a word. It can only suggest a change. It doesn't have a right to suggest a particular word".

Ashoke Pandit, who has also served the board, however, mentioned that the board can suggest changes on a personal level and not 'officially'. When asked over a text, "If CBFC has a right to 'suggest' a particular word for a word in a film that it has objected to?," Mr Pandit exclusively told us, "That's if the producer or a director asks for it. Suggestions can be made on personal level but not officially."

For those of you who have watched the film, you might have already noticed the changes. In fact, the makers also seemed to have complied to the suggestion of making 'vibrator' blur in the movie. In the much talked about masturbation scene featuring Swara in the movie, one can see a blurred spot on her bed as she gets up.

The trailer of the movie, though, still carries the words/ dialogues CBFC asked to change. Here:

Earlier as well, the Prasoon Joshi-led Censor Board had suggested to change the title of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's last directorial, from 'Padmavati' to 'Padmaavat'.

More details on the issue awaited. Watch out the space!
