Is Rohit Dhawan's next a buddy film about Man and Monkey?

Rohit Dhawan who made his directorial debut with Akshay Kumar and John Abraham starrer Desi Boyz in 2011 and followed it with John and Varun Dhawan's action-comedy Dishoom takes his own time to make a film. And this is the reason he has had no release in last two years even after Dishoom performed well at the box office. Now, we have heard that the director will roll his next movie in 2019. However, this is not a superhero project that was rumoured in media a few months back.
We have learnt that Rohit Dhawan is working on a buddy film that will depict an unusual relationship between a man and a monkey. "This idea has been with Rohit even before Dishoom happened. Now he has almost completed the script and is hoping to roll it from January or February next year," a source revealed to Peepingmoon.com.
According to the source, the movie explores the special bond between a man and a monkey from a very unusual angle. The film is likely to be backed by Sajid Nadiadwala and will star an older actor. When we asked if it's the same project Hrithik Roshan was supposed to star, the source said, "Not true. Rohit will start approaching actors when he is done with the script. But yes, he has some A-list actors in mind including Akshay Kumar with whom he shares a good rapport."
Interestingly, Rohit's father David Dhawan had also directed a film where a monkey played an important role. In his 1993 blockbuster Aankhen, a monkey named 'Bajrangi' was presented as the third hero besides Govinda and Chunkey Pandey. Bajrangi literally carried the film on his hairy shoulders with his hilarious acts and managed to tickle many funny bones. Now, 25 years later, his son is gearing up to bring yet another monkey story to us hence we can imagine where the inspiration has come from.
Also, it will be the third film about a man and an animal's relationship in two years if this project materializes as planned. Two films (Junglee starring Vidyut Jammwal and Haathi Mere Saathi starring Rana Daggubati) about the relationship between a man and an elephant are already under production.
Animals have always played an integral part in Hindi cinema. In films such as Haathi Mere Saathi, Naagin, Teri Meherbaniyan, Parivaar, Maine Pyaar Kiya, Aankhen, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Chillar Party and the recent being Entertainment and Dil Dhadakne Do, animals have been given so much importance. They weren't used as just props but were seen in prominent roles that wove through the plot of the film.
However, the films about animals or even their use in Hindi movies have considerably fallen lately. And even in films that feature animals, real animals have mostly been replaced by computer-generated things. With three films with animals playing a prominent role in the pipeline, it's definitely going to be a good time for animal film lovers.
