SRK-Kat-Anushka film will be called Bauaa

It’s confirmed! PeepingMoon.com reported on November 22 that Aanand L Rai’s untitled “dwarf” film with Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma would be called Bauaa. That news is true. Sources from the sets of the film that is under production have now confirmed the title.

PeepingMoon.com had reported that bets were being taken in Bollywood about the title. All that was known of this multi-starrer was that SRK plays a dwarf in the film. Aanand, however, was not keen that his project be described as a “dwarf film”. Nor did he want SRK’s character to be confused with Kamal Haasan’s in the 1989 comedy-drama Appu Raja in which the South superstar plays a dwarf.

Names like Bandhua, Katrina Meri Jaan and Batla were doing the rounds but Aanand appear to have settled on Bauaa. While SRK is playing a dwarf, Aanand does not want fans of the Bollywood Badshah to think that is the actor’s character. According to the director, SRK is just a short man in this December 2018 release that will clash with the Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan starrer Kedarnath.

With this vertically challenged role, SRK takes his repertoire of roles a notch higher. The actor and Anushka, his co-star in Rab Ne Bana De Jodi, Jab Tak Hain Jaan and Jab Harry Met Sejal, shot a wedding sequence for Bauaa at an Andheri studio last week. The set had statues of elephants and lots of colourful flowers. SRK’s company Red Chillies VFX installed VFX machines on the sets to instantly convert whatever had been shot after the actor and director cleared the footage. SRK is reportedly using chrome trousers for the dwarf scenes. A lot of detailing is going to make the scenes look authentic. All that the actor has said of his look in Aanand’s film is that it will be very different from Kamal Haasan’s in Appu Raja.
