While Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan was busy ringing in his 52nd birthday at Alibaug today, the actor’s fans waited restlessly outside Mannat’s gate for him to return. SRK, along with wife Gauri, son AbRam and daughter Suhana left for Alibaug last night to bring in his birthday. He was joined there in a wild party by his close friends from the industry including Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Sussanne Khan, Shweta Bachchan, Sanjay Kapoor and family, etc. The party continued till late this morning. Meanwhile, the fans’ presence outside Mannat’s gates built up sizably and alarmingly. That’s when several of them realized in the frenzy outside the iconic residence at Land’s End in Bandra, that there were more than just SRK fans in the crowd. Also present were pickpockets! And they had a field day dipping their fingers into people’s pockets and handbags.
By the time the Bandra Police got involved, more than 25 mobile phones were reported stolen and several wallets and purses. The police are looking at CCTV grabs from cameras in the area to see if they can identify any notorious pickpockets in the crowd. An officer from the police station commented wryly, “It is Khan Sahab’s birthday but this has been a ‘bad day’ for his fans!”
