Exclusive: Kajol, Shabana Azmi and Mithila Palkar kick off Renuka Sahane's 'Tribhanga' next month

Actress Renuka Shahane, best known for her role in Sooraj Barjatya's Hum Aapke Hain Koun, is returning to direction after a decade. The actress who had helmed a Marathi film called Rita from her mother Shanta Gokhale's book, Rita Welingkar in 2009 is next directing a Hindi film and has got an ensemble cast on board to translate her vision onscreen.

Peepingmoon.com sources have confirmed that Kajol, Shabana Azmi and Mithila Palkar have been finalized to play the central roles in Shahane's next family-drama titled, Tribhanga. "Although the news of their casting has been doing rounds since last year, it was just a few weeks back that they signed on the dotted line. The makers were neither denying nor confirming the casting rumours also because Kajol was not sure whether she wants to be a part of it. But she is also said to have given her nod post an afterthought and will soon join Mithila and Shabana Ji for reading sessions," a source close to the development said.

Revolving around three women from three generations in the same family, Tribhanga goes on floors in the third week of October in Mumbai. All the three leading ladies along with other pivotal actors will attend the workshops to get into the skin of their characters a few weeks before the shoot kicks off. The film will entirely be shot in Mumbai for two-three months and is expected to release mid-next year.

An intense family-drama, Tribhanga is believed to be all about the human relationship as it explores the complexities between mothers and daughters and their relationships. Shahane's script is said to be witty as well as emotional at the same time with Kajol, Shabana Azmi and Mithila Palkar all three leading protagonists playing powerful characters. Siddharth P Malhotra who directed Rani Mukherji starrer Hichki last year is producing it under his home banner, Alchemy Films.
