The trailer for Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu starrer Soorma was unveiled today and the launch was a gala affair. The film revolves around the real life story of Indian Hockey team captain – Sandeep Singh, played by Diljit. The film is directed by Shaad Ali and is slated for a July 13, 2018 release. Angad Singh Bedi also stars in the film.

Soorma is a biopic on the life of Sandeep Singh who was accidently shot while travelling in the Shatabdi Express train, while on his way to join the national team for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He was almost paralyzed and was confined to a wheelchair for almost two years.

But that did not deterred Sandeep as he came back with a vengeance and established himself back in the team. He became the leading goal scorer and won the Man of the Tournament award in the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. India won the trophy under his captaincy and went on to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.

Soorma’s trailer launch saw Diljit, Taapsee, Angad, Shaad attending the event, along with Chitrangada Singh who is also one of the producers of the film.
