'Toxic' Trailer Review: Women Reduced to Props for an Alpha Male Fantasy?

After a long wait and multiple release date postponements, the trailer for Yash's highly anticipated film "Toxic" has finally been released. However, the trailer, which audiences expected to see as a powerful gangster drama and spectacular action, doesn't seem to make the same impact at first glance.

The trailer features actresses like Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Nayanthara, and Rukmini Vasanth. Despite their presence, the focus remains squarely on Yash's character. In many scenes, Yash is seen single-handedly confronting multiple female characters. Thus, the female characters seem to be merely a vehicle for establishing Yash's alpha-male persona rather than strong voices that drive the story forward.

Action should have been the film's biggest strength, but the fight sequences shown in the trailer don't deliver the expected impact. Despite stylish visuals, slow-motion shots, and a grand scale, the action lacks the raw impact and thrill that would excite audiences. In many places, the trailer seems to rely more on style than story.

Social media is also receiving mixed reactions to the trailer. While Yash's fans are praising his screen presence and look, others are calling it overly stylized, male-centric, and lacking in expectations.

For now, despite its big budget, stellar star cast, and long wait, the trailer for "Toxic" doesn't seem to have made the impact that audiences had hoped for. It will be interesting to see if the film can overcome these shortcomings with its story and strong screenplay.
