Karan Johar is bringing Musafir Cafe director Ruchir Arun on board for a new long-form series under Dharmatic Entertainment. The upcoming project is currently in development, with details about its story, cast and streaming platform being kept under wraps.

Arun has been steadily making a name for himself in the long-form space with shows such as Little Things, Ghar Waapsi and Loot Kaand. His latest series, Musafir Cafe, starring Vikrant Massey, Vedika Pinto and Mahima Makwana, premiered on Netflix in July and has been drawing attention for its intimate, relationship-driven storytelling. 

The director has spoken about his preference for stories rooted in real emotions and everyday relationships, a sensibility that has remained consistent across much of his work. Musafir Cafe, adapted from Divya Prakash Dubey’s novel, follows characters navigating love, choices and the complexities of relationships. 

His new association with Dharmatic comes at an interesting point in his career, with the filmmaker now taking on another long-form project for Karan Johar’s production house. While the makers have not revealed further details about the series yet, the collaboration brings together Dharmatic’s expanding streaming slate and Arun’s increasingly recognisable storytelling style.
