Khushi Dubey Inspired By Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt’s Strong Roles; Reveals Script Selection Mantra: 'I Am Instinct-Driven'

Khushi Dubey has carved her own space by taking up roles that feel layered and interesting. From films, web shows, to TV, she has been part of stories that stay with the audience. Instead of repeating similar characters, she has focused on variety, and that’s what has helped her stand out. She has also played roles that are different and not cliché. For Khushi, a project truly works when it connects with people and leaves an impact.

Talking about what draws her to a script, she shared that her first instinct is always towards characters that leave a mark. “As an actor, I’ve always looked for roles that are impactful, characters that are different from what I’ve done before. I want to be part of stories that can make someone cry, make someone happy, or even inspire them in some way,” she said.

Reflecting on her role as Chikki in Aashiqana, Khushi revealed how the character touched lives. She recalled receiving messages from people who were going through difficult phases, saying the role helped them find hope again. “Chikki was relatable, emotional, and free-spirited, but also strong enough not to give up. That’s the kind of impact I value,” she added.

She also looks up to powerful performances like Alia Bhatt in Gangubai Kathiawadi and Priyanka Chopra in Saat Khoon Maaf and Barfi, calling them examples of characters that are both unique and deeply impactful. For Khushi, growth as an actor also plays a big role. “I want roles where I can explore more layers and prove myself as an actor. Acting has the power to give hope and bring out emotions, and that’s what I look for the most,” she explained. While she values a strong team, she believes the story remains the backbone. “The story is the spine of any project. The team matters, but my first focus is always the role,” she noted.

When it comes to her approach today, Khushi admits she balances instinct with careful thinking. “I am a little instinct-driven, but I also analyse every layer before saying yes. I have to be fully convinced because I’m the one who has to live that character,” she said. Over time, she has consciously chosen variety — from action-driven roles to light-hearted parts and experimental genres. Shows like Jubilee Talkies and Jaadu Teri Nazar reflect that range, along with her interest in exploring different storytelling styles.

For Khushi Dubey, choosing a script isn’t about how big the role is or how popular the project might be - it’s more about whether the story feels right and if the character gives her something new to explore as an actor.
