Haq is set for a theatrical release on 7th November 2025. Trailer out now.
Junglee Pictures’ prolific slate (Raazi, Talvar, Badhaai Do) boasts of films that start important conversations. As firm believers in cinema as a vehicle for change, engagement, and entertainment, November 2025 will mark the release of their bravest work yet, HAQ. Led by Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi, HAQ is a gripping, high-stakes drama that promises to move hearts, spark debate, and keep audiences hooked till the very end.
A fierce story of one woman, a mother’s fight against the system and society, the trailer of HAQ stands as a testament to a no-holds-barred, gripping, and provocative drama. Produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, HAQ is inspired by a landmark Supreme Court judgment.
HAQ serves as a timely reminder that courage, when combined with knowledge and resilience, can move mountains. The debate in the film may have begun in the 1980s, but its relevance and intensity can still be felt today. A relentless conflict between personal belief and secular law, the film is a nail-biting takedown of patriarchy. Directed by Suparn S Varma (Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, The Family Man, Rana Naidu) and written by Reshu Nath, HAQ’s crowning jewel lies in the unforgettable performances of Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi.
“This story moved me deeply,” says Yami Gautam Dhar. “It’s not just Shazia’s fight — it’s a reflection of the strength and resilience of countless women who’ve been told to stay silent. Portraying her demanded empathy, conviction, and an unshakeable belief in justice. This film is more than a role for me. Its a reminder that it takes just one voice to make a difference.
Standing tall opposite her is Emraan Hashmi, playing both husband and a renowned lawyer. Their collision in the courtroom becomes a national debate on identity, love, and gender ideology.
“The courtroom becomes a warzone of ideas, faith, identity, love, and justice colliding all at once. It’s powerful, provocative, and deeply human,” says Emraan Hashmi.
Director Suparn S Varma says, “HAQ is more than a courtroom battle, it’s the story of a voice that shook the nation. When women were expected to stay silent, one voice echoed across the nation. It is a story of courage, self-respect, and an unwavering fight for identity, dignity, and equality.”
HAQ comes from the studio known for stories that question, challenge, and break convention, films that achieve the coveted blend of commerce and substance. HAQ marks a bold new step in this hard-earned legacy.
Amrita Pandey, CEO of Junglee Pictures, says, “We have always told stories that are inspired by real events, challenge norms, and celebrate human resilience. With HAQ, director Suparn Verma brings an intensity and emotional depth that is both powerful and entertaining, while writer Reshu crafts a narrative that feels relevant, moving, and deeply human. Together, they’ve created something truly special. Both Yami and Emraan have delivered outstanding performances that will stay with audiences long after they leave the theatre.”
HAQ marks the debut of Vartika Singh in a pivotal, plot-twisting role and features powerhouse performers Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Hussain, and Aseem Hattangady. The film raises imperative questions - Should justice have a religion? Is it time for One Nation, One Law? Inspired by true events, HAQ is a fictionalized and dramatized version of the story stated in the book Bano: Bharat Ki Beti, written by Jigna Vora.
HAQ doesn’t just revisit history; it lays bare a wound that never truly healed. It reiterates that justice isn’t personal. It’s universal. HAQ releases cinemas 7th November 2025. Justice for one is justice for all. Justice is not personal. It is universal.
