“Work means just work, Not gender" : Chitrangda Singh speaks on 8-hour shift and double standards in the film industry

Bollywood actress Chitrangada Singh, who was seen in the recently released film Housefull 5, has shared her opinion on the 8-hour shift for working women. During a conversation with a media organisation, she spoke openly about her career and personal decisions, and also gave her perspective on the responsibilities and challenges of women working in the film industry.

Chitrangada said, "Everyone has their own thinking and choice. No one can question anyone's choice or decision. But when you come to the set, whether you are a male actor or a female, a quality is expected. Therefore, everyone should have equal responsibility. Work means only work. Gender does not matter in this." Talking about her personal life, Chitrangada said, "I myself took a break of seven years. When I had a son, I left all my work. It affected my career, but that was my personal decision. Everyone has their own priorities and no one has the right to question it."

She said, "I respect even a woman who clearly says that she cannot work more than this. But at the same time I also respect the producers because cinema is a business in which someone is investing his money, time and hard work. In such a situation, it is not wrong to expect the same quality and dedication from everyone."

Many film personalities have also expressed their views on this issue. Kabir Khan supported Deepika Padukone and said that if Aamir and Akshay can work for 8 hours, then why can't Deepika. Surveen Chawla said that it is not right to stop a woman's passion just after becoming a mother. Rana Daggubati said that the demand for 8 hours is right but also said that there should be no pressure on anyone. Director Tarun Mansukhani said that the shift should be fixed in advance, otherwise there is trouble in shooting.
