Ajaz Khan, Ullu app CEO summoned over obscene content in ‘House Arrest’

The Amboli police in Mumbai has issued a notice to actor Ajaz Khan for allegedly broadcasting pornographic content in his web show ‘House Arrest’. The notice, sent on Monday, has directed Ajaz Khan and the owner of the Ullu app to appear before the investigating officer and record their statement.

The matter came to light last week when a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activist filed a complaint against the show. Based on this complaint, Amboli police registered a case against Ajaz Khan, the show’s producer Rajkumar Pandey and others associated with the Ullu app. The police have already recorded the statement of the Ullu app manager.

The controversy further flared up when a clip of the show went viral on social media, in which Ajaz Khan was seen forcing other participants, especially women, to perform intimate scenes. The video clearly showed that the women were uncomfortable, yet they were forced. On May 1, Maharashtra BJP MLC Chitra Wagh demanded an immediate ban on the show. She called it "harmful and obscene" for society, especially children, and demanded strict action from Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.

Seeing the controversy growing, Ullu App removed all episodes of 'House Arrest' from its website and mobile app. Along with this, the National Commission for Women (NCW) also took a serious stand in this matter. The Commission has sent summons to Ajaz Khan and Ullu App CEO Vibhu Agarwal on May 2 and ordered them to appear before the Commission on May 9.
